South Weber K-2 Elementary School

South Weber Elementary School is a kindergarten, first grade and second grade center - the first of this type of school for Davis School District. Limited by lack of land and a rapidly growing student population, the district decided a conventional K-6 school would not be as useful as a K-2 school. The district purchased some additional adjoining land to the current school site, and with the assistance of EDA, began an extensive programming process for the new K-2 school. The layout of the school not only responds the limited available land, but is organized to facilitate this phasing with no compromise to the educational requirements of the facility. The building acts as teaching tool, incorporating many green technologies including sustainable materials, solar hot water systems, natural daylighting and wind power.
