Columbus Community Center

The Columbus Community Center provides employment, job skills training and assisted living services for developmentally challenged adults.
EDA and the Owner developed a building program that identified two fundamental goals for the new center. One was to create a place with a strong sense of identity that the program’s participants could readily relate to promoting a sense of pride and belonging. The second goal was to maximize the design presence of the new building with a modest construction budget. The creative use of industrial materials and construction methods allowed the Columbus Center to build a landmark building for the cost of a typical warehouse.
